Behind The Posters

This past September I went on a solo mission to explore the far side of a big peak in Chile.  My camp site couldn't have been better.  I was up in the snow, overlooking a lake, surrounded by big peaks and the weather was perfect.  I keep saying to myself, "This is why I come to Chile."  At this moment I realized that this is also what I want to share with people who come here to ski.

While touring those days, I kept thinking of cheeky phrases I feel capture the essence of adventure in Chile.  I decided to make a series of posters, which I will put on the Chile Powder Adventures Facebook page throughout the year.

The idea is really simple:  I am not trying to recreate a "northern" experience in the southern experience.  If you love skiing in Vail or Deer Valley and really want something like that in the month of August, I am not your guide.  If you are looking for a manicured experience where everything is simple and cushy, my trips are not for you.

Since 2004 I have been spending the entire season in Chile.  For eleven years I have explored the Andes and skied in places where few people ski.  And this place still throws curveballs at me.  That's the fun of it.  This is what I want to share.  I serve up adventures.  I have been there long enough to be pretty good at hitting the curveball.  This should give my guests a little piece of mind that as they come down the pipe, we're not going to strikeout.

Chile Powder Adventures is the perfect name for my business.  Sometimes we get a little more powder.  Sometimes we get a little more adventure.   The environment here is perfect for adventures – big and small.  We experience things that are impossible to get anywhere else in the world.  I think this is the reason to ski in Chile.  Do something that can't be done elsewhere.  Let me create the perfect adventure for you.

Maya wants to know what's wrong with paying $110 to sit on her donkey?

Very funny, Mike. But Maya shouldn't have to pay a Ben Frankin to sit on a donkey.
